This module is an important part of our leadership program. Prisons are being build based on the reading aptitudes of 4th graders. Our program assist these early learners with grasping reading readiness skills.
This specially designed program also helps youth build committed connections to school, family and community as well as interpersonal relationships so critical to their growth development. Our Scholars enjoy working with young boys who look up to them.
Our Frederick Douglass Reading Program. Studies indicate that when students get off to a poor start in reading, they rarely catch up. Struggling readers encounter negative consequences: grade retention, assignment to special education classrooms, or participation in long-term remedial services. Further, as they progress through the grade levels, the academic distance from those who read well grows more pronounced (The Learning First Alliance).
